K9 Academy is based in Toronto, Ontario. This page explains what we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, and how to have it removed. If anything here is unclear, email info@k9academy.ca and ask.
When you download a free guide
We ask for your email address, and optionally your first name. We use them to send you the guide and follow-up training emails.
Your email is passed to Klaviyo, our email provider, who store it and send the emails on our behalf. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all marketing email immediately.
We also store a one-way hash of your IP address — not the address itself — purely to stop the same person submitting the form hundreds of times. It cannot be reversed to identify you.
When you buy something
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. We keep a record of what you bought, your email address, and the amount, so we can give you access and handle refunds.
You do not need an account to buy. If you check out as a guest, we create one behind the scenes so your purchase has somewhere to live, and email you a link to set a password. You are free to ignore that — your download works either way.
Recent activity shown on the site
Some pages show recent activity, such as “Sarah just downloaded the Reactivity Guide”. These are real events from this site. We show a first name only — never a surname, an email address, or an amount.
If you would rather not appear, email us and we will exclude you.
Cookies
We use a cookie to keep you signed in. That is required for the site to work and cannot be turned off while you are logged in.
Who else can see your data
Only the services that make the site run: Supabase (database and login), Stripe (payments), Klaviyo (email), Bunny Stream (video hosting) and Vercel (hosting). We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Purchase records are kept for seven years, because tax rules require it. Email subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be deleted.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email info@k9academy.ca and we will action it within 30 days.
Deleting your data means losing access to anything you have bought, so we will confirm before doing it.
